Description
Insect houses are considered to be the urban solution to declining populations of beneficial insects. Insects provide many benefits to the ecosystem through pollination, nutrient cycle, and also as food source for birds. When adding an Insect House to your garden it is best positioned in full sun and at least a metre off the ground. Avoid vegetation in front so you do not obscure the entrance to the tunnels. Make sure the Insect House is fixed securely to prevent shaking and swaying in the wind. Multiple houses work best to offer a sanctuary to beneficial insects, especially pollinators. Avoid constant exposure to rain to avoid mould growth and an inhabitable home for your intended insect guests. During the winter months the Insect House is best stored in a dry shed.
